I design and make handcrafted jewellery from my studio in Dunbar, Scotland. My designs are inspired by nature and the outdoors. Growing up by the beach in North Ayrshire on Scotland’s west coast, I always loved combing the sand for treasures and I’ve kept exploring my surroundings ever since. When traveling the country or further afield, I find natural materials, sketch patterns and photograph moments that evoke the time and place to use in my work.
I discovered my love for jewellery design on a visit to the Glasgow School of Art to see an exhibition when I was 15. I was offered a place there in 2003 and after four very busy years I graduated with a BA Hons degree in Silversmithing and Jewellery Design.
In 2010 a fellow graduate from University and I partnered to open a gallery and jewellery workshop in Glasgow’s West End called ‘Au’. Here, I made and sold new collections of work as well as creating bespoke pieces for clients.
In 2015 I took a break from my career to have a family. Having lived the city life for over 10 years, but always secretly longing to be back by the coast, my family and I settled in Dunbar, East Lothian. Once again I had the beach at my doorstep and very quickly the sunny little town became my home.
I design and construct jewellery with the wearer in mind and quality is at the forefront of every piece. All my precious stones are conflict free, sourced from ethical UK suppliers. Any gold I use is 100% recycled or Fairtrade Gold supporting small scale and artisanal miners. I am conscious of reducing the environmental impact within the jewellery industry and offer the use of Ecosilver in bespoke pieces.
